I’ve personally had the opportunity to watch Wentzville artist Linda Wilmes create a beautiful piece of artwork. Her technique is so elegant and it was very fascinating watching her creative skills flow so easily. With the opening of her new home studio in Wentzville, we wanted to shine the spotlight on such a talented local resident.

Linda’s professional art career began while still attending high school; an oil pastel painting was purchased by one of the faculty members. That sale, opened the door for many possibilities, and certainly a lot of enthusiasm and hope for a career in the arts.
Being a self taught artist, working in all mediums, Linda began painting with oils, after becoming impatient with the drying time, she began working with acrylics, and finally watercolor, with a dabbling of pastels in between. At present her passion is with watercolor and pastel.
As a member of the Missouri Watercolor Society, Art Section member of the St. Louis Artists Guild, St. Louis Watercolor Society, Gateway Pastel Society, and The Degas Society, she is a very active and prolific artist. Linda has won numerous awards and accolades.
Linda has become an accomplished muralist, with hundreds of murals completed, both in private, religious and commercial settings.
Along with teaching drawing and painting, Linda has become a very noteworthy contestant on the Plein Air scene, winning several recent awards, in the greater St. Louis Area competitions, within the past three years, especially with the quick paint competitions.
Most recently, Linda has completed four large murals, depicting the development and growth of Wentzville and its’ history located in the newly opened Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, MO. Other murals created over the years are located in area churches, businesses and numerous homes.
Linda’s studio and gallery are open for visitors with tours by appointment. Her art classes are held in the gallery, which displays over 100 original paintings.
Linda is a seasoned instructor and demonstrates her techniques, sharing tips she has learned throughout her career. With countless awards to her credit, Linda remains grounded, and always willing to give back the gift of art.
